Lore

SUMI lived as a real heron beside a calligrapher's pond for forty years. When the calligrapher died mid-stroke, the unfinished line ran into the water and the heron drank it. Now it is mostly ink and mostly silence, painting to finish that one interrupted stroke, and has not managed it yet - which is why it keeps painting.
